Infection

Infections can significantly impact fertility by affecting the health and function of the reproductive organs. Common infections, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) caused by sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia and gonorrhea, can result in scarring of the fallopian tubes, preventing egg fertilization or implantation. Other conditions, such as bacterial vaginosis or endometritis, may disrupt the uterine environment, making it inhospitable for a developing embryo. Testing for infections involves diagnostic procedures like blood tests, cultures, and imaging to identify bacterial, viral, or fungal pathogens. Early detection and appropriate treatment with antibiotics or antiviral medications can help restore reproductive health and improve fertility outcomes. Book a consultation and we can talk this through.
